‘Book deserts' are geographic areas where books are scarce, meaning they don’t have easy access to public libraries and retail stores with books and literature. Little Free Library, is on a mission to eradicate book deserts and make great Canadian literature more accessible to all. Scotiabank announced it is becoming Canada’s largest Little Free Library steward, by building custom Little Free Libraries in book desserts across the country, stocked with thousands of free copies of this year’s Giller Prize shortlisted novels.
